From May 23 to 28, 2023 at the borders of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic the 20th Neisse Film Festival will be taking place. In this memorable 20th year the festival organizers from the Kunstbauer Kino e.V. in Grosshennersdorf, Germany are once again calling for films which will compete in the categories of feature film, short film and documentary. A total of eleven Neise Fish - the festival prizes - and approximately 24,000 Euros in prizes are waiting to be awarded. Alongside the best films in each category and the audience favorites, awards will be given for example for the best acting, best screenplay and best production design. A special prize will also be given to a film chosen from among all films shown at the festival which furthers the understanding between the three neighbouring countries of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Films eligible for entry in the 20th Neisse Film Festival should be productions from 2022 and 2023 which were produced or co-produced in at least one of the three neighbouring countries of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. Deadline for all submissions is 31 December 2022. Film selection will be made by mid-April 2023.

Living Europe at the borders along the Neisse

The Neisse Film Festival, located at the juncture of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic, has been presenting current feature films, short films and documentaries each May since 2004. The mix of genres and the international character of this festival, with screenings in approximately 20 locations in three countries along the Neisse River make this festival one-of-a-kind. The festival has become a kind of cultural bridge for film fans and arthouse cinemas from the three neighbouring countries. Each year, the festival places its focus on the relationships and interactions between the peoples of Eastern Europe and on the cinematic treatment of past and present. The inter-national program offers not only three competitions and various film series but also events such as concerts, readings, exhibitions and parties. The Focus series at the 20th NFF will be centred around "Post Soviet Union", looking at the social and political legacy of the former Soviet Union.
