Dear film lovers,
I am delighted that the Liberec Region is once again a partner of the NEISSE NYSA NISA FILM FESTIVAL this year, an event that has been bringing a selection of the most interesting works of Czech and international cinema to our border triangle for over twenty years. This tradition has become a fixture on the cultural map of the border triangle, connecting cinemas and audiences across the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland.
I come from Hrádek nad Nisou—a town in the heart of the border triangle—where, during the era of totalitarianism, cross-border cooperation and contact with neighbors were limited. Today the borders are open, the river connects cities and communities, and the festival shows us that we can live, work, and meet together in ways that were once unthinkable.
Each film offers a chance to have a glimpse into the lives of others and reminds us that people on all sides of borders face similar challenges and experience similar joys and sorrows. Let us enjoy a selection of the best in international film production again this year, meet one another, engage in conversation, and inspire each other.
I wish you a pleasant festival and wonderful cinematic experiences.
Martin Půta, Governor of the Liberec Region
